Softball for a trip to Seoul
Well, I took up a sport that I haven’t played since I was 13 or so–baseball. Not exactly baseball, but softball. It has most of the same skill sets, but some subtle differences in rules and game play. I played on the base team in the most recent tournament we had on base. Teams came from around Korea, Army and Airforce teams. There were also some Korean teams, Republic of Korea Naval Academy and ROK Marines. We beat one of the Korean teams but lost to the two American teams. We had only been together about 2-3 weeks, so needless to say we weren’t that good.
Now we have been practicing about 3 times a week and are much better. We have been entered in a huge tournament in Seoul and the base is paying our way. Four days in Seoul should be a lot of fun. It is over our anniversary weekend so we are trying to get Dayspring a place to stay other than open bay barracks, tough as most rooms are sold out. I am sure it will work out. The tourney is huge, they play 24 hours a day on like 6 fields. I just hope we can win a couple games and not get too embarassed. I am now playing between picther and second base. Wish us luck!!–Ryan
